As described in the Foreword, this book depicts the eras of growth in the smallest of incorporated cities in Central Kentucky. It is said that Mackville, in Washington County, was the second settlement established west of the Allegheny Mountains in Kentucky, second only to Harrodsburg. The time line for this undertaking goes from the colonial age through generations of survival, the Great Depression, the New Deal, war years and prosperity.


Containing over 1,000 photographs, the book Is divided into the following sections: History, Mackville Community Center, Streets and Businesses, Community and Civic, Schools, Churches, Houses, Families, Veterans, Miscellaneous, and Memories of residents and former residents. Included is a locator map showing the location of buildings no longer there.
